LEED for Cities

The City of Lafayette is one of just 16 communities nationwide selected to pursue LEED for Cities certification as part of the 2025 Certification Cohort. This designation recognizes communities that demonstrate leadership in sustainability, resilience, equity, and quality of life by tracking progress across key performance areas. LEED for Cities is a program of the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC) that provides a nationally recognized framework for evaluating and improving community-wide sustainability performance. Communities across the country use LEED for Cities to benchmark progress, share best practices, and advance holistic, data-driven climate and equity goals.

LEED Certification for Buildings

Beyond community-wide efforts like LEED for Cities, LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) certification also applies to individual buildings.
