Sixth Arrest Made in Judge Shooting Investigation
On February 4th, 2026, the Lafayette Police Department, with assistance from the Tippecanoe County Prosecutor's Office Major Crimes Unit and the Tippecanoe County High Tech Crime Unit, made a sixth arrest in the ongoing investigation into the shooting of Tippecanoe County judge Steven Meyer.
Nevaeh Bell, 23, of Lafayette, was arrested by Lafayette Police in connection with the investigation and taken into custody without incident.
Bell was arrested on the following charges:

Attempted Murder -Attempted intentional killing of another
• IC 35-42-1-1(1) / Level 2 Felony
Conspiracy to Commit Murder, does not result in death
• IC 35-42-2-1.5 / Level 3 Felony
Aggravated Battery-Posing a substantial risk of death
• IC 35-42-2-l(c)(l) / Level 5 Felony
Battery Resulting in Serious Bodily Injury
• IC 35-42-2-l(c)(l) / Level 5 Felony
Battery by Means of a Deadly Weapon
