Multi-State Investigation Leads to Five Arrests in Connection with January 18 Shooting of Tippecanoe County Judge 

LAFAYETTE, IN -The Lafayette Police Department (LPD) announces the arrest of five individuals following an extensive investigation into the January 18, 2026, shooting in the 1700 block of Mill Pond Lane. 

Arrests and Charges 

After a coordinated, multi-state operation involving hundreds of investigative hours, the following individuals were taken into custody: 

  •  Raylen Ferguson, 38, Lexington, KY
    •   Attempted Murder (Felony 1)
    •  Conspiracy to Commit Murder (Felony 2)
    • Aggravated Battery (Felony 3)
    • Battery Resulting in Serious Bodily Injury (Felony 5)
    • Battery by Means of a Deadly Weapon (2 counts, Felony 5)
    •  Intimidation with a Deadly Weapon (2 counts, Felony 5)
    • Attempted Obstruction of Justice (2 counts, Felony 6)
    • Gang Enhancement
    • Firearm Enhancement
  •   Thomas Moss, 43, Lafayette, IN
    • Attempted Murder (Felony 1)
    • Conspiracy to Commit Murder (Felony 2)
    • Aggravated Battery (Felony 3)
    • Battery Resulting in Serious Bodily Injury (Felony 5)
    • Battery by Means of a Deadly Weapon (2 counts, Felony 5)
    •  Intimidation with a Deadly Weapon (2 counts, Felony 5)
    • Obstruction of Justice (Felony 6)
    • Gang Enhancement
    •  Firearm Enhancement
    • Habitual Offender


  • Blake Smith, 32, Lafayette, IN
    • Attempted Murder (Felony 1)
    • Conspiracy to Commit Murder (Felony 2)
    • Aggravated Battery (Felony 3)
    • Battery Resulting in Serious Bodily Injury (Felony 5)
    • Battery by Means of a Deadly Weapon (2 counts, Felony 5)
    •  Intimidation with a Deadly Weapon (2 counts, Felony 5)
    • Assisting a Criminal, Providing Deadly Weapon (Felony 5)
    • Gang Enhancement
    • Firearm Enhancement
    • Habitual Offender


  • Amanda Milsap, 45, Lafayette, IN
    • Bribery (Felony 5)
    • Obstruction of Justice (Felony 6)


  •  Zenada Greer, 61, Lexington, KY
    • Assisting a Criminal (Felony 5)
    • Obstruction of Justice (Felony 6)
