Pet Supplies Plus is partnering with Columbian Park Zoo to host a holiday animal enrichment drive to benefit Zoo animals. Item collection will take place from November 18 through December 31.
Enrichments are a very important part of maintaining Zoo animals’ health and well-being. Often thought of as toys, enrichments serve a greater purpose by eliciting natural responses from animals. By providing mental and physical stimulation, enrichments have a positive impact on an animal’s quality of life. Pet Supplies Plus offers not only enrichment items such as toys and treats, but they also carry a wide variety of other pet product needs for small animals, birds, reptiles and much more.
“We are very grateful to Pet Supplies Plus for providing us with this opportunity to obtain additional enrichments for the Zoo animals. It’s a fun way for individuals in the community to contribute and donate an item for a favorite animal” said Assistant Zoo Director, Noah Shields.
Those who wish to participate just need to visit the Pet Supplies Plus store and choose wish-list ornaments off of the Zoo gift tree, located inside the store. Participants can then purchase items while doing their own shopping and drop them in the designated Zoo enrichment drop box near the registers. Donated items go directly to Columbian Park Zoo animals, just in time for the holidays.
Pet Supplies Plus is located at 311 Sagamore Parkway N, Lafayette, IN 47909. The store is open Monday through Saturday from 9:00 a.m. – 9:00 p.m. and Sunday from 10:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m.
