LAFAYETTE POLICE PROVIDE PROGREESS REPORT ON MILL POND
LANE SHOOTING
LAFAYETTE, IN - The Lafayette Police Department (LPD) is providing an update regarding the
ongoing investigation into the shooting that occurred on January 18, 2026 in the 1700 block of
Mill Pond Land.
Victim Status and Recovery: The Lafayette community continues to support Judge Steven
Meyer and Kimberly Meyer as they recover from their injuries. We are pleased to share that
Mrs. Meyer was released from the hospital this past Sunday. Judge Meyer remains under
medical care; however, he continues to heal. He released the following statement:
“I am so grateful for the outpouring of support from friends, the community, court colleagues, and
law enforcement. I want to express my heartfelt thanks to my medical team. I am receiving
excellent care and I am improving. Kim is also deeply appreciative for the community support,
and she too is healing.
I want the community to know that I have strong faith in our judicial system. This horrific violence
will not shake my belief in the importance of peacefully resolving disputes. I remain confident we
have the best judicial system in the world, and I am proud to be a part of it.”
A Multi-Agency Investigative Effort: The investigation remains active, rigorous and ongoing.
The Lafayette Police Department commends the tireless work of the investigators assigned to
this case, including:

• LPD Crime Scene Investigators
• Tippecanoe County Prosecutors Office Major Crimes Unit
These local efforts are being bolstered by the continued cooperation and resources of the
Indiana State Police and the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI).
