Citizens Police Academy

The Lafayette Police Department's Citizen's Academy is an educational outreach program designed to provide citizens a greater understanding of the inner-workings of their police department and of the role that law enforcement plays within the criminal justice system.


The Citizen's Academy meets 1 evening per week for 8-weeks, from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. These classroom sessions are held at the Lafayette City Hall in the Council Chambers 20 N 6th Street, Lafayette, IN. In addition to the classroom sessions, participants are encouraged to participate in "ride-alongs" with our patrol officers, allowing for a real-life perspective on contemporary policing.

 Class size is limited so register early.  The spring session will begin on March 18th.
