The City of Lafayette is excited to announce the introduction of new Automated Side Loader (ASL) trash and recycling trucks. These trucks are more efficient and safer for the community and collectors by utilizing an automated arm to pick up the trash and recycling toters. Your trash and recycling preparation will change, but your sanitation service will remain the same.
Please follow all instructions below to ensure your toters are collected efficiently and safely. Failure to properly place your toters and items for collection may result in the items and/or toters not being collected until the issue is corrected.
- Place trash and recycling toters out for pick-up by 6 a.m. on your scheduled collection day.
- Handles and wheels of the toters must be towards the house.
- Toters must be 3 feet from any obstruction (i.e. cars, mailboxes, trees, light poles, large items) with 2 feet in between them.
- Trash must be contained in bags. Recycling must be loose. Lids on the toters must close.
- Be aware that large items and cardboard outside of the toters (minimum of 3 feet from toters) will be collected by different trucks than those that dump your toters. These trucks may come several hours after your toters are collected.
By working together, everyone contributes to a cleaner, more organized neighborhood while minimizing costs and environmental impact.
